Default That Annoying Stalling problem, revisited.

I have had the well known engine vibration and RPM drop when putting in neutral and coming to a stop from the first day. Didn't bother me much. In the last two days, that has turned into stalls a couple of times. My search of this board resulted in the following possibilities:

1. Bad gas. Some members believe that they have isolated a single gas station or a brand as a cause.

2. Bad MAP sensor. Some members reported positive results following replacement. Some members found it a temporary fix and some did not notice an improvement.

3. Changing the battery is presented as a solution, but no member complained of a poor start up following a stall, which could be due to a bad battery. Battery does not technically and logically sound like a reason for this problem imo.

Any new thoughts or updates about this issue?

Have you done anything about 1 and 2? Checked your plugs ever or air filter? I know of cars that have come fromt the dealer with over-torqued plugs. What to say they couldn't have been under-torqued? Bad throttle position sensor or Idle sensor? It should never have done this rpm "dip" thing. With changes in outside temp and humidity, it may do this but it "learns" pretty quick. You should get it checked out. Any mods that might confuse the electronics?

Cyber

I am in the UK and we have just been given a recall for the ignition system (repairs to be carried out between Sept to Nov '02). They are going to replace it free of charge and your symptoms sound exactly what was mentioned in the TSB. Have a look at the UK owners forum.

The other thing that might be causing this is a bad ECU. Since the RPM are not staying stable when in neutral that could be at faul, not likely but possible. But I really think the former may be affecting you. This is relevant not only to the S2000 but other Honda's as well.

Hope that helps.

I've had the same thing with my S since day 1. It seems as if it wants to stall out when comming to a stop and putting the car in neutral, mine dosen't quite stall though the RPMs come back up and it's only for a "second" that this happens. I havent had it looked at yet, though.
