Another Caution About Hardtopguy...
Sorry mods if this is in the wrong place, I was looking to add to the Hardtopguy topic that was previously started but the search function has been down and I can't locate the thread.
I ignored some of the complaints experienced by other members with respect to orders from Hardtopguy and decided to try him anyhow. I won't go into every detail about my poor experience on my sales transaction, but just to say that I experienced much of the same complaints others have listed in the previous thread. Extremely poor communication after the sale transactoin occurs, lack of replies to my attempts to contact him, erroneous information on the shipment date of the parts, lack of tracking information on shipments, and so forth. He is a perfectly fine person to deal with on the phone when you get him, but after that it all goes to pot. You can send him dozens of inquiries about your shipment and you might be lucky to get one reply, forget about using the inquiry form on the website.
I think his issues relate to the supplier of his parts, as he relies on a different supplier to send out your parts. As many of you might know S2000 parts are often on backorder from Japan, I think rather than tell you that he just processes the order and waits for the parts to arrive whenever that may be. People are left hanging without firm delivery dates. When you are waiting for an important part that results in your car being out of service it gets very frustrating not being given information. Great prices on his parts, but if you are treated like crap what's the point, I'd rather pay a higher price and get dealt with in a fair and respectable manner. I know lots of guys got good service from him, but many others have not, just wanted to add my eperience so people are aware of what can go wrong. In this day and age of businesses complaining about a poor economy slow sales, you have willing customers being given piss poor service, it doesn't make sense to me.
He's been a HUGE supporter of S2ki and the S2000 community.
I understand and respect your disappointment in your transaction, and appreciate your recognition of his high reputation among other S2000 owners that have bought from him.
I just feel the internet is an easy outlet for negativity and really think you should give him the opportunity to resolve without a post that takes a hit on his credibility.
Good luck.

Sorry about your bad experience. I can understand where you are coming from. Hopefully Hardtopguy will make it right for you and I'm pretty sure they will. I know for a fact they will not try to steal your money. Just be patient and it seems you've been but just know you'll either get your part or your money back.
Hopefully Hardtopguy can address some of these issues in the future as I have been hearing it too much as well.

Having read HTG threads closely, I decided to order f some hardtop catchers. I had searched relentlessly in UK for a used set and they are quite expensive to buy.
I first called him from the UK and he confirmed the items were in stock. I then placed my order after receiving oral and verbal confirmation of the same.
I have to say I called him each day until my order was dispatched which 2 days after placing the order. I was given a USPS tracking number and my parts arrived on the 24th December (7 days after placing the order). Jeff even marked the box as "spares" so I didn't have to pay too much import tax. Overall my experience with HTG was OK and would buy from him again.
His prices are very reasonable and you need to cut the guy some slack if you expect to buy dirt cheap parts.

But if you were told that the parts were "shipped out" (a 3 day delivery time at worst) and they didn't arrive after 4 weeks, and you could not get a tracking number provided to you from the vendor I don't think you would have cut him any slack. Can't see how anyone could really. A cheap price won't make up for poor service and bold face lies in my books.
It is very strange that some people get great fast service with excellent communication, and others just get strung out with all sorts of b.s. . IMHO, I think it all comes down to availability of the parts. When they are in stock they get shipped out easily. When certain parts are backordered he misleads you and strings you along rather than just telling you a more realistic shipping date. That's just my guess of how there can be such a dichotomy of shopping experiences with this vendor.
