unfortunate for both of you. what boggles my mind is how his excellent reputation has now gone into questionnable territory for some with no explanation from the vendor.

I believe he did post up in another thread about this.
Think there was some issue with his supplier for parts.

This sounds like a classic "trying to do too much with too little resources". Is Hardtopguy a one man operation, or does he have some help? Hiring someone to help with logistics and PR might be the only thing he needs to provide consistently good customer support. This would increase the price of his products of course. If he already does have someone/people to perform these duties, then maybe some retraining/firing are in order.

PR is everything as a vendor.
It only took a handful of cars out of multi-millions sold to bring down Toyota.
And this is exactly the root of most of the complaints. PR. It cost nothing to do it and it will save a business in the end.

No one will argue that Jeff is a great guy and supporter of the S community we all agree.

But what is being complained about is the PR and basic customer service which as evidenced by this new thread and the Monstrous one previous is woefully lacking.

Hopefully Jeff can improve the Deficiencies in that dept and sooner rather than later.

I will say that he is a great guy to talk to when you get him on the phone he can be very helpful if you have a problem and he can give you some good advice on installation and such. I have read somewhere that he was blaming previous sale problems on health issues that he was dealing with, I can't confirm or deny that.

His lack of total response is quite baffling for a vendor. When you send him a letter stating that the sale is being cancelled and you are placing a dispute with the credit card company and you ask him to reply by a certain date you just get nothing. If he would have replied and told me to go screw myself I think that might be better than just no reply at all.

As far as the type of business he is running, it appears to be a one-man operation. This isn't his main job. I think all he does is take the orders, he gets a parts supplier that he deals with to ship the parts out on his behalf. He doesn't see the parts, he doesn't see the shipment, he just relies on a third party to handle that for him. He takes the money though. He works at Boyland Acura near Cleveland OH in the parts department. He gets a central Honda parts wharehouse to handle his shipments for him, which is what I discerned from talking to him.

This issue is pretty much done for me, I ordered new parts from a local Honda dealer, I'll get my credit card refund one way or another and I won't be putting in any more orders with HTguy. I'm not going to tell anyone to avoid dealing with him, I just wanted to convey my experience and lump it in with isues other members have had with him on prior posts. This has been a very strange transaction, the money part doesn't bother me the least, not having the parts when you need them is the real kicker for me. Hopefully this ends my summary of this post. Thanks for all of the replies and understanding.

If you order parts from the USA to Canada they most likely sit in a container at the border, whenever a customs agent wishes to process the shipment. It has nothing to do with HardTopGuy. Been rock solid for me.

I've placed 3 orders with him this year.

First order 1 part was missing. It took some time to contact him, as Cleveland was buried under snow at the time, but he got that part to me quickly without fuss.

2nd order was over $1K. It will be here tomorrow, 2 weeks from order, and this was a special order item.

3rd time was about 9 days order-delivery.

I'm happy overall. If it were Amazon or something I'd like it to be faster, but it isn't Amazon. He is a great guy to deal with on the phone, and he's not even that hard to reach on the phone.

my parts never even made it to the border , they were never shipped despite me being told that they did. My issues occcured over a year ago I can't say anything about his current operations. I know Starchland from the Ontario forum just went through the same b.s. I went through over a year ago, and he posted in the seller feedback forum. I personally don't care about the issue anymore as I got my refund from my credit card company and I've found new suppliers of Honda parts from the US that will ship to me.
