Default Another comparison thread

Right now I am in the middle of debating what route is best. Not on the topic of an actual car purchase, but rather to purchase or not to purchase.

The dilemma I've been having with myself recently is whether or not to take a few thousand dollars, for the sake of argument we'll say between 5 to 6k, and either buy a beater car to take the strain of daily driving off of my beloved S2000, OR, to invest that money back into the S2000 in the form of maintenance such as fixing dents and dings or perhaps some bolt upgrades like suspension or exhaust etc.

I was looking for everyone's input, but I'm particularly interested to see if anyone else has pulled the trigger on the same decision.

Looking forward to your advice.

OH, and btw, the car in question for a daily driver would probably be something like a DC2 Integra or a EG6 Hatchback, just in case anyone was wondering.

Thanks

you'd be surprised the amount of shitty roads there are here in town. In fact, even though the freeways are brand new here i still get a pretty noticeable vibration throughout the entire car when traveling between 75mph and 85mph. I have no idea why its at those speeds only, but it seems to be regardless of the road condition... actually come to think of it that might be another issue all together best solved with money... like a wheel balance or new tires.

But the point still stands, its pretty harsh out here. Not LA harsh, but still kinda harsh?

I meant that you don't need to worry about snow.

While I get by well enough with my S, when I spoke about the strain of daily driving I meant the occasional inconvenience brought about by having only 2 seats for people and cargo, the high costs of keeping her looking clean and shiny from all those assholes who swing their doors open as hard as they can when they park near you, and the overall rough patches of road I am forced to frequent.

I have been living with the S2000 as a daily driver now for well over two years now and could very well continue to do so, even through snow I'm sure. Its just not what I was worried about.

I mean, just as an example, I have an estimate from a local body shop for just 3 dents on the car. The only 3 dents on the car, and the cost is well over 1,600 dollars in repairs.

That's what made me start thinking about the viability of a beater in the first place.

bent wheel....

its an 07, what has that car gone through in just 3 years that it needs 5-6k in freshening?

Do you really think it could be a bent wheel???

I mean the car once ran over one of those little concrete dividers at the head of parking spaces.

The whole right side of the car ran over it, both wheels, but as far as my mechanic saw the only damage that was done was superficial. And since then the cars alignment has been fixed on one of those laser alignment machines.

You've actually got me quite worried.

If it's shaking at a certain speed, it's probably a tire/wheel problem... not the road.
