Default Any Advice for a Stolen S2000?

I posted a thread in the OR forum since I figure we're all trying to scope out these cars anyway: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=749402

It's a damn shame since I usually park it locked up behind a barbed wire fence in another part of town and I even mentioned last night to my gal that I have this feeling that it's going to get stolen parked here. Oh well.

So far I have a police report and an insurance claim started. I was hoping that it had been towed for some reason, but no luck.

Anyway, if anyone has some kind of advice for what I should be doing right now, I would really appreciate it.

pray that it's stripped and burn or taken to mexico so you dont get the car back with a theft recovery title.

I thought the title would only change if it were stripped.

Well I hope someone just joyrided it (and didn't mis-shift), but with the immobilizer you'd pretty much have to have some kind of device designed to fool the ECU, so I'm guessing they were looking for this specific type of vehicle. I guess I'm just hoping that the thief had a heart attack or he got a phone call that his kid was electrocuted mid-theft and he just ditched it and got picked up. Who knows.

For my next S2000 if I don't get this one back, I think I'm going to have to pull some fuses or something when I park it overnight, but they're probably planning for that as well.

Pulling fuses. LOL. Anyways, sorry to hear about your loss. I can't even imagine how that feels. This would probably be the only time you will see a grown man cry. LOL. There is also a good chance they had a tow truck and just towed that baby away so pulling fuses might not help as much in that scenario. Well just hope it is stripped to hell cuz you definitely don't want that car back after being stolen. Good luck with the find.

you can always request a mechanical teardown from your insurance if it's recovered. They can check to see if there is any mechanical damage from a joyride..but this will most likely total out your car anyway if any is found.

im sorry but no alarm will keep thieves from stealing your car. I mean, if you're up against some amateurs than they will probably be deferred from stealing your car if you have a viper or clifford alarm. If you're dealing with pros, they will get your car no matter what.

Like i mentioned before, i do not know what your plans with this car is. If it has sentimental values or if you're planning to keep it forever than having a salvaged or theft recovered car wouldn't matter. If you're looking to resale later than it will hurt the value thus why i say you should pray that the cops do not find it.

there's really nothing you can do at the moment but wait it out. Maybe try posting about it in your local or regional forums and get the words out. So other members can keep an eye out for it. Other than that, i do not know what else you can do but wait.

There's so many ways to steal a car nowadays and these guys come prepared. I mean there's so many posts like this, where people tried to take off their steering wheel but the thieves have steering wheels ready. Towing the car. There was even one in the rsx forum a few years back regarding someone actually got a key made at an acura dealership and used that key to steal the car.
