Default any AEM V1 intake owners?

well just got of the phone with an AEM representative that the AEM V2 intake is still not yet CARB approved.

now ive done the liberty in reseaching on the California Air Resources Board (for us CA owners) and since the V1 is CARB approved, there is no indication according to the CARB between the V1 and V2 system. it just says AEM Cold Air Intake System.

so for anyone who does have the V1 intake, not living in california, i just have a small request. would it be possible to peel or remove or if you never had it on, the CARB sticker (if you live outside CA it would be obsolete anyways), and i could luckly purchase it.

i have emissions coming, up and as long as the SMOG inspector see the carb label ill be okay. but if he takes the effort in looking up the CARB #, it will ring up "AEM Cold Air Intake System".

anyhow to CA for making us folks deal with this stuff, cause if it didnt exist i would be running a turbo kit with nitrous.. lol.

thanks.

When they call up the carb EO# and believe me they will it will not only tell them the system but it will also tell them the model year it is CARB'd for.

Example:

In 1999 I bought a 2nd gen Eclipse the last model year of that body style. Later I wanted to by the AEM cold air intake for the car. AEM did not have a CARB certified intake for the 99 because the model year car was still new. AEM did have a CARB legal intake for the 97-98 model.

I purchased the Intake because the fitment is the same and I thought I was good to go.............WRONG!

The smog testers would not pass the intake because when they punched up the CARB EO it told them it was for a 97-98 Eclipse. Because mine was a 99 Eclipse they would not pass me.
