I'm thinking about doing this. My cousin has it on his A6.

I rarely leave my car in gear.

He who leaves car parked in neutral all of the time may one day realize the 'gravity' of the situation!

Yeah, yeah, I knew somebody would say that. So I'll never park on an incline... what do you guys think?

It's so nifty.

Make sure you install a switch off the gear stick so that the starter knows that you are in gear.. otherwise you are in for big trouble.

its very useful in winter to heat the car

Friend of mine with a supra had his body kit completely ruined because someone who worked on his car left the car in gear and next thing u know......boom!!! Just be careful when you get it and when you are not the last one to get out of your car, never remote start your engine!!

ok, before the myths get too far out of hand - most GOOD autostarters (mostly those packaged with alarms, i.e. Clifford) require the user to go through a process to prove to the system that the car is in neutral before exiting the car - so you can't start it in gear if you didn't go through the check. as for the incline thing, of course that makes sense. if anyone has questions about these systems, feel free to ask; i work for tweeter, and have been involved with them for some time.

Umm that is why you get a free accessory in every car called the "E-brake"

How does this system get around the fact that the clutch must be depressed for the starter to work, regardless of the gear position?

I was informed that Remote start only works on automatics.

True/False?

My cousin had remote-start on his manual Z and now on his six-speed A6. It's really cool.

One time when I took a girl out in his ride, as she and I approached the car, I spoke into the key fob and said: "Car on."

Vroooom and giggles.

So name off some reputable remote-start manufacturers, please.
