Default Anybody know what this is?

There is a flexible black pvc tube, about 1 1/2" diameter that is just laying next to my spare tire. It looks like it needs to be attached to something, but I can't figure out what.

I do know that the tube comes from inside the cockpit, between the seats. and enters the trunk just left of the spare.

I'm completely stumped. Could not find anything in the Helms manual.

Any ideas?

Please don't move. No help in under the hood.

Could it be a sort of pipe used for draining water from the cracks around the trunk or convertible top???

Here is a picture of the tube/hose. Can someone please look on their car and see what it attaches to.

Is it attached to anything at the other end? I've done a fair bit of work in the trunk of my car doing ICE work and had all the panels out but for sure I don't remember seeing that! There are ribbed plastic wiring conduits on that side of the car leading into the cabin though - perhaps one of these was misinstalled or bypassed during the cars construction (unlikely!) but it seems awfully wide for one of those...

I'm not exactly sure, but it looks like something added as a raceway for wiring between the trunk and the console. Have you owned the car since it was new? If not, maybe the previous owner had stereo equipment installed and later removed. Just a thought.

That looks like one of the conduits for the wiring harness. I tapped into one in that area (though from the front) to get hardwired power to my Valentine 1. In this case, though, it's an extra one, since it's not full of wires....

I did buy the car used.

The previous owner did have a very nice system in the car. Looks like 2 amps, mb quartz speakers and a sub. All that was left was one amp, wiring to the trunk and the front speakers.

I just want to make sure that if I cut it out of the trunk that it is not needed.

The only thing I could imagine is that is some sort of drain hose.

Could it be connected to the A/C - one of my friends had his A/C running to the boot to keep the amps cool. - Just a thought? Try running the A/C and check....

It's called flex loom, installers use it to cover wiring, it adds a clean touch to installs and looks factory.
