If you don't shift at redline you are not seeing an S2000's hp. I'm not saying an S2000 is a powerful car but it feels like an Accord 4 cylinder until you are above 6,000 rpms and don't drop below 6,000 on shifts.

or bring a friend, that forces the sales guy to let you two take it out since there isn't a third seat.
lol.. I had my wife with me and the sales guy made her wait at the dealership. He said he had to be with me. She was pissed.

I verified with this dealer, that we can go out by ourselves, so that wont be an issue.

We will see what happens.

The problem I see is I am driving a CR, and knowing the type of person I am, I will end up wanting the CR..lol

Wat? wow. I would have been out the door. Fail dealership is fail.

Also, when other people tell me the s2000 isn't very fast... they're generally used to off-the-line speed. Try slowly creeping up in first from a stop... don't shift. Get it to just over 6000 rpm and hold it for a second maintaining speed. Then put your foot in the floor and get ready for 2nd gear. I guarantee it'll feel plenty fast.

On 2000 to 2003 I believe the rev goes up to 9k because too many people been mis-shifting and slamming the valves into the piston and 04 and up goes to 8k.
Completely incorrect.

As for the OP - at least you were able to test drive the car.
In 2000 and 2001 you could only test drive one after you signed the paperwork. My test drive was one circle around the lot and this was after all the paperwork was almost completely finished.
If you bought the car new you couldn't redline it for 500 miles (engine break-in period). So all the new owners had no idea what kind of kick their car was going to have. Fun times...

I bought my 08 s2k and to this day it still puts smiles on my faces especially riding top down, flooring it, and hearing the beautiful vtec sound with my aem cai. This is definitely not the most powerful car and if speed is what you are looking for then this is not the car for you. In my opinion this car is a niche car and its either you hate or love it. The best car i can compare it to is the AE86.

A word of advice, it takes a little while to understand the car and adapt yourself around it, it does not adapt to you. Once you figure that part out, you will not be disappointed. But I remember, it took me a few months to get over that stage and now I have owned it for 8+ years, it never disappoints me.

Just FYI- When I bouught my 07, I noticed that the car is noticeably slower with a passenger. Was the sales person a fat a$$? Shedding weight on this car makes up for the lack of TQ.
