Mine has been in a closet since Sept '99. I think that I might have used it once. Don't really care about the new one, but for those that have had both, does one offer any advantages over the other? thanks.

tommyg,

I have been using the original cover since October 1999. I went in for the new one and didn't like the way it looked.

I believe the reason for the recall was due to the fact that if you reclined the seat all the way back while the seat was at certain fore and aft spots, the belt would get pinched under the cover by the seatback.

On the changed cover they have less material around the seat belt retractors (new cut-out pattern). The rest looks the same, but to me it looked unfinished in this area. I think if you never had / used the original you would never know the difference.

KidK,
I agree with you. I traded mine in for the new one and now I regret doing it. I use the top cover quite a bit and like the looks of the original one better.

I got the recall visited the dealer a number of times. Nov 18, 1999 pickup date. I don't have a new one yet! Do expect one soon....no!

Haven't bothered with recall. Waiting on seatbelt recall also.

reds2k,

You should offer AaronS2K a trade. Since you don't use it, you will never notice.

Since some of us anal rententive types have seen both, we know there is only one that looks really clean.

Have not yet, and I have had my car since 10/99.

I am sorry I traded the original. It fit ok and I used it occasionally, but the new one does not fit as well so I have not used it very often.

Thanks for the input! Think about this: Fast forward to the year 2050 as a first year S2K rolls across the auction block at Barrett Jackson and hear the commentator: "this car also still has the original convertible-boot that was more preferred and often replaced. Also notice that there are no interior scratches to indicate the seat-belt fix that most owners regretted later"

I have also had my S2000 since 10/99 and haven't traded the top cover yet nor have I had the seatbelt TSB or any other TSB addressed. I've only put about 3,100 miles on the car and it hasn't been convenient to get any of this done yet. On a bad note, I also haven't changed the oil yet per the advice of the Honda Regional Service Representative ( I am really leary of this but I haven't driven the car in over 2 months).
