I dont want to be pushy but when do we get our badges? Im a firm beleiver in Honda and I always encounter Honda vehicles on a regular basis that have WAYYY over 100,000 miles. I am proud to represent another Honda that has alot of miles one would say and still drop the jaws of those who challenge my "little high mileaged 4 cylinder".

What went with you 2 really high mileage guys in your engines? Just curious. Awesome life out of them, that's for sure!

About 6 months ago I started noticing slightly lower oil pressure than normal. Changed the oil and found gold flakes which usually means bearings .

Just passed 14,000 miles last week on an '02 I recently bought about four months ago. I absolutely love to drive this car and plan to keep my s2k for as long as she will last and I look forward to the many mileage-milestones ahead.

What sort of oil pressure were you seeing?
Did the engine still run fine besides that?

I was running mine hard through the canyons and heading up Palomar Mtn, when I heard a misfire and felt it down on power. I turned around and limped it back down the hill, but the tick got worse and eventually seized it up before I could get home.

Retainer clip broke on the valve........sucked the valve into the top of the piston...........banged a hole in the piston and so on and so on.

Unfortunately this is a common way for this engine to die. It lived a good long life for me. I am proud of it and have it in the shop as we speak getting another one put in. I just can't see driving anything else.

The oil pressure gauge I'm using isn't the best, but it works "good enough". I don't generally go by actual psi, more by needle position. I started to notice about a 10psi difference at normal highway speeds (5k rpm). It generally was about 85-90psi and dropped to about 70-75ish. That was my first indication that all was not well.

Car still felt fine for quite a few thousand miles while I sourced a new motor. Then a few days before I did the swap, I did a 1000 mile road trip and burned through a quart of oil and was feeling a bit sluggish. I figured it was time.

I found a low mileage 03 f20 and picked up a ap2 trans while I was at it. Car feels great although I only got to drive it a couple days before it went into the body shop. Some lady came into my lane and took out my pass fender and part of the bumper.
