So what are you trying to say, tripleblack; that those who claim 700,000 miles or better are but phucking liars?
Exactly! I guess he still doesn't believe the Honda Goldwing motorcycle that went 1 MILLION miles without a rebuild. If anything, the Goldwing engine is build with much less technology than an S2000.
(I wonder if he thinks the Americans never actually landed on the moon? )

I believe it was one of the first model years of Honda Goldwing motorcycles - 1000cc, 4 cyl, horizontally opposed. The first owner drove that thing for over 1 million miles. Honda found out and traded his bike for a brand new, fully loaded one, straight across. Honda wanted to take the engine apart to see what they did right (or wrong, if you want to look at it in that way). They probably learned a lot from that engine and used that information in the engines they built since. One can speculate whether they used the info to ensure that no more engines lasted that long or to use that info to built high output engines to last longer than people might think.

WOW!
In 1977 I purchased a brand new KZ 900. I owned it for eleven years, rode it a lot, and ended up with what I thought was a lot of miles...114k+. But now I understand myself to have been nothing more than a motorcycle slacker.

Whats the highest mileage s2k now? I know someone posted 170k+ a long time back.

Someone has to be getting near 200k! So is the general belief now that the engine AND tranny, drivetrain, etc is good for 100k without issue? Mine is at 10k so far and I'm hoping! lol

Ive always wondered mine is approacing 100k soon, im going to get an aftermarket invidia exhaust and 4.57 gears. The car has been well serviced and looked after throughout its life.

But i feel my 1/4mile and 0-60 will be a lot worse then the quoted figures and a younger s2000.

I am i correct in thinking this, or will it not make much of a diffence.
Anyone?, id like to know because i spend more money on more mods.

thanks

That's one reason why I want to get another lexus. They just keep on running or at least it seems like it. Gave my little bro my sc400 with 180k on the odometer and the car still pulls strong and quiet too.

Anyway, I'll be joining the 100k very soon. I just passed 92K and finished doing my oil change. Next is my transmission and differential gear oil change. I love this car!!

I'm in the exact same shoes you're in. I am near 93k miles and did my tranny/differential oil change a few weeks ago.

Motor is still running strong with oil change every 3k miles still on factory clutch. Its about to wear out so I need to replace it in a few months probably.

I know we have a timing chain..when are we supposed to replace that?

PLEASE let me know

I also had a SC300 that lasted 150k miles before I sold it. Engine was still in perfect shape.

Go Honda!

The only time you should replace your timing chain is when you're doing a rebuild.
