The demand appears to have slacked off some, at least in my neck of the woods. There are two on the floor at my dealer, a black and a white, and both have been there for about a month. Have any of you noticed a slowing of demand for the new models in your area?

No, let's hope so...in fact I would be very surprised if Honda stopped so soon. BUT let's hope this car stays as is, meaning no major design changes, for the entire production run (of about 4-5 years) then fades away.

Probably alot depends on the new NSX production. I for one hope they stop production atleast to the US.

Demand might have fallen for two reasons. One is the market and the other is the weather. I feel when the warm weather is here to stay, they will be gone.

vmb,

There is no way that Honda is losing money on the S2K. They might want to get the insight out to people to get some good real-world testing of the hybrid technology, but why would they want to lose money on the Stook? It doesn't make sense. These are probably the same dealers that are telling people that the Stook was only going to have a one or two year production run. Lies. All lies. They only want to sell the Insight cheaper, because nobody would buy it if they were trying to make a profit off of it. It'd be too expensive. However, with dealer price gouging and ADM's, many people are willing to pay more for the Stook. Why wouldn't they just price it higher? Do you think Honda's just being nice? I don't think so.

To Honda, the Stook is just another high performance sports car. They saw a need for it at the time, and it just happened to coincide with Honda's anniversary. Other than being an awesome car, there is nothing else special about it.

The NSX is due in 2004. I would like them to stop making the car, but I think they will make it till the NSX is out. The dealer now has 3 S2000's on the floor where I am. I do see 2-3 on the road when I go out now. One reason I got the car was the low production numbers

Honestly now, if Honda only made 500 of these cars you probably wouldn't have been able to afford one because they likely cost at least 5x what they do now! I don't understand why people are so caught up in wanting to be the only person in their town who owns one. Geez, this car is still rather limited -- just compare the S2000's YTD number for 2000 versus a Civic or Accord. Now I would be upset if Honda was now selling 100,000+ per year but this car's production numbers are anywhere NEAR that!

I do find it amusing that the PT Cruiser actually has an emblem with the word "Limited" on it (at least the ones I've seen do) when you now see those 'cars' literally all over the place!
