I've seen some ads for those in some car mags.. looks like a neat idea but I wouldn't compare it to nitrous..

Sure, it's safer than nitrous, because it doesn't work in the same way. Akin to saying high octance gas is safer than a turbo charger. Nitrous provides combustion products, whereas CO2 merely cools down the combustion products beforehand.
