Default Anyone order a Hardtop lately?

Just Curious......I heard a rumor that they may not be stamping the hardtop with the VIN # anymore? Is this true?

The reason I ask is because I have a 02 on order and I would like to get the hardtop at the same time. However they have no idea what my02 VIN will be until it actually arrives or so they say. Just trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. I'd hate to wait a few months longer for the hardtop once my 02 arrives.

I had the parts tech at my dealer look up the ordering procedure. According to his book, the ordering procedure still requires a VIN, though he did confirm that there's no VIN plate anymore. But he gave me a delivery time of about 2-3 weeks after ordering, meaning that I could expect the hardtop to be there by the time the car itself arrives. We'll see in March how correct he is.....

I picked up my car last Thurs, got here the Sat before. They ordered the top, they said 4-6 weeks from date of order. Dunno about VIN.

BTW, come on up here to New England, they have S2Ks sitting on the floor. Of course, I didn't want a "demo" car that someone ragged on, I got to see my baby in the shrink wrap!

Just installed mine a few days ago. Wow! It looks great.

For anyone doing the install themselves, though, I'd suggest loosening both sets of three bolts (the ones which hold the rear latching pins to the hard top) before adjusting the front latch alignments. Also, use some caution when removing the panels which have to be removed; the white fasteners break easy.

And yes, no more VIN plate even though the install instructions still list a step wherein it gets installed.

regards,

Steven

Sorry, I can't answer your question. I only know my dealer promised my '02 Spa would have the hard top on it when I picked it up in April. I have yet to get a build date or a VIN but I am the dealer's February allotment!
