Default Anyone replace the windshield?

Have you had to replace your winsdshield?
Did you go OEM or Aftermarket? Any idea on prices?
What else needed replaced - molding, trim etc?

Mine has some weird marks on it - like someone etched it almost, not sure what caused it. But, I am looking into replacing it. I would like to go OEM for re-sale purposes, but wondering...

Thanks!

I had my windshield replaced several years ago, and they installed a PPG windshield.

Honestly, I don't think of windshield brand when looking at a used car. Besides - if you drive as much as I do it will have to be replaced eventually.

My new windshield has a couple of chips due to flying rocks on the highway, but otherwise is holding up pretty well. My windshield installer didn't have to replace anything more than what is normally replaced. I beleive it's an extruded rubber piece that mounts the window to the frame. The windshield had the rear view mirror button pre-installed.

Make sure you get a windshield that is tinted on the top like the original. I believe there's an optional clear windshield, but the one I got looks just like the OEM windshield.

This year Safelight glass, Iam in calif, did mine , i did not opt for the more expensive hondd glass and have not looked back, the guy came with a truck full of excellent tools, did the job without drama or mess in about an hour, 6 months plus later no issues, even offered me a pair of new wipers for about 10.00 each, they work just fine as well...the insurance took care of this so my ded was $250.00.

I had my 03 replaced with PPG...the glass was fine but the mirror clip was diff.Had to take the clip off the OEM glass and use it on the new glass.

A minor hassle...

I had a complete stressful nightmare when I got my windshield replaced in my 08 SI. Part of the reason was they gave me an aftermarket windshield and it was distorted as f@#k. When I looked through the p/s area of the glass, I could see straight lines were turning wavy and in other portions of the glass as well. And if you care about your car, you should sit there and watch over the guys shoulder to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid... Like get glue all over your paint and wipe it down with a dry paper towel/ f@#k your car up that you spent hours on buffing to keep it mint.

I have always used safelite or someone like them. They are fast and do a great job. Plus with my insurance its free. Here in AZ it is the biggest source of insurance claims due to the gravel everywhere. I have a few chips in my windshield and will probably get it replaced soon just to be safe.
