Duct tape it lol

Seriously, never had that on my AP1.

Just out of curiosity, I realize that most Ap1's have this problem. Did the factory revise the Ap2 to avoid problem like this?

Yeah, I guess you're one of the lucky ones. Don't you notice that under wears start to rip and tear at around those seams as well? I guess the stress areas on the softtop is similar to the stress on our underwears LOL

My 2001 with 90,000 miles is just starting to tear there. The pinch holes at the top corners have been there for a couple of years.

I have that on both sides as well as a big rip along the edge. Can only see it when the top is down though. I also have 2 big rips on the top corners on each side and a cracked rear plastic window hahah.
Needless to say I am getting a new top shortly.

i'll post some pics of my top, like someone just mentioned the stitching looks different.

they're a little off focus, just ran out to the garage to snap these night pics.

That does look a bit different than mine. At 70k I can't see how the top could have been replaced and now needs another replacement. =/

I checked and was able to find a little piece behind the where the stitching came loose, and it had what seemed like a tab portion.. but thats barely holding on.

To the ductape idea! lol Naw but really, would the same stuff people use for tears on the top work here? Im asking because it seems this area is alot of under stress when the top opens and closes.

I have a tear on my driver side in this same location on my 07. If you feel in that area there is a metal piece that sticks up. Only thing I can think is it somehow got pushed down on that while the top was up causing a tear?

I need to have it sewn up and patched.

As far as someone said about spraying water near that, I always stuff a rag next to it when washing the car so I dont have to worry about it lol
