Default Stuff to Look for in a s2000

Hi all,

I'm looking to get an s2000 (2003 and up) between 50-80k miles and I'm wondering what kind of stuff I should look out for in the car.

How often are the big maintenances and what kind of work needs to be done on the car during these big maintenances?

What are the common problems expected around the mileage that I am expecting to buy?

FAQ and SEARCH.

The exact same question is asked weekly. I don't say that to be mean, I say it because you'll get a more complete answer in a shorter period of time.

It's a long answer.

For example if I go to the "Search this subforum" option from the "S2000 Talk" index page and type in:

"What to look for"

I get:

If you are worried about the car have a mechanic look at it.

Other things to look for...

1. Clean title
2. Low miles
3. color option you like.

Here are some common S2k problem areas to look for:

2000-2001
Clutch buzz
2000-2003
Banjo bolts All engines after #1025386 in '02 and all '03
Retainers
Spark Plug torque
Axle nut torque
2004-2009
Pops out of 2,4,6
All years
Oil consumption

Other than that it's just like any other car.
