VIN Plate Reads "JHMAP2##S######" That's the only way to know for absolute sure you don't have a retrofitted vehicle. Yes, the "S" was intentional.

I know all of the interior differences.

Im talking about if you put Ap2 parts on an Ap1 could you still tell its an Ap1?

For example in this picture

If you look closely the front end on the ap2 looks slightly longer.
Also the wheel wells look a bit larger.

It's the color that's doing the trick or the slight difference in angle the cars are parked. I don't recall physical specs difference between AP1 and AP2.

You can convert the look of AP1 to AP2 both exterior and interior and no way you'd be able to tell the differences. Just search the VIN# for answer.

The front end looks longer because the front bumper is different....

front bumper on ap2 is longer and wider in the front, ap1 bumper is more pointy also. wheel wells may be optical illusion because of 16's vs 17's?

2004s were not made at Suzuka, so their vin still has a T instead of an S.

Other than in the U.S, the S2000's moved to the AP2 looks with the same AP1 engine (i.e, 2.0-liter 16-valve dohc Inline-4, 240 bhp, 9000 rpm redline).
