If you look closely the front end on the ap2 looks slightly longer.
Also the wheel wells look a bit larger.
I think you won't be able to play this game with the S if you really think that there are differences there. The obvious exterior differences are your best bet for identifying but they're by no means any sort of guarantee. Honda tweaked the S over the years but there weren't extensive changes to such a degree that would create the differences that you claim to perceive. Photos are only of so much use in general.

And I believe the valve cover was changed from black to red.
Negative. My all original AP1 has a red valve cover.

per the video posted, AP2 (at least in the US) does NOT come with the nav screen.

Another difference no one has noted, look at your kick panel the panel as you get out of the S that has the metal badge. There is a difference in them between AP1 and AP2 Some say Honda S2000 in one word and the other has Honda on top of S2000

WOW! Great Video! I may need to change the gears on my AP1, though it would probably take me out of STR class in autocross

2004s were not made at Suzuka, so their vin still has a T instead of an S.
I'm looking at a 2004 VIN, and it has an S, not a T. This VIN doesn't have a T, so I think your mistaken.

You could get in the car and turn it. I believe AP1s and CRs have a quicker steering ratio.
