^9k redline outside the us for MY04+. fat americans complained about not having enough torque.
only way to know for sure is the VIN. my roommate has an AP1 that's completely converted to an AP2(except for the engine).

MY06 is actually AP1....in fact all MY04+..... try to figure that out...."clue"....Everyone outside the USA knows the answer.
lol.... quoting myself, but yes, AP1 is stamped on my Vin (under hood) plate...
Thanks to S4play I was able to get the gold spark plug cover, only distributed in the USA with the AP2 updates.

I think my Ap1 is the best ...cause its mine !! ..plus u cant beat the 9k redline and the rawness of an ap1 ...my bro had Ap2 he always asked to drive my Ap1 ....i rarely asked to drive his Ap2 ...it felt like my car at 80% ....nuff said

I always thought it appeared that way too. But I attributed it to an optical illusion. If you look at the profile of both bumpers (completely stock)...since the ap2 has that little indention towards the bottom it gives it a little definition. AP1s on the other hand, it's just a field of smooth plastic right there, which I always thought tended to make it look longer than it really might be.

I know the first thought that came to your mind was "SEARCH NOOB"

But my question isn't as basic as you think.

Aside from the headlights/taillights and bumpers how can you tell the differences between the two?
Like what are some body line differences etc.
I have noticed that on some newer Ap2's the front end is a little bit longer/thinner.
I'm asking this because I want to be able to determine whether an S is an Ap1 or 2 even if its an Ap1 with Ap2 parts.
Honda boasts over 2000 improvements to the car in 2004 - if you look hard enough and know what to look for, there's always a way to tell.

I understand but you can't look at the VIN while looking at pics/videos.
I just want to be able to determine Ap1's vs Ap2's even with modifications if i see one on the road or on the internet.

For example, the shape of the rear window on the soft top or something like that ya know?

^I was gonna say this as well.

If someone has an ap1 with an ap2 "conversion" (headlights, taillights, bumpers, interior etc) its going to look exactly like an ap2.

If the soft top has a plastic window, its a safe bet its an ap1. I'm sure you could probably put the plastic top on an ap2, but its a downgrade and doesn't make sense.....plus if someone's gonna spend all that money and convert their car to an ap2 why the heck wouldn't they get a nice top too? (i know, not all ap1 have plastic window, just trying to give him something obvious to look for)

Basically what everyone is trying to tell you is there is no way of telling at a glance or on the road if its really an ap1 or ap2 unless you check the vin.

why does it matter so much anyways?

Just out of curiosity.
I am a VERY attention to detail person and like to be able to tell differences from cars off the top of my head.
For example, I can tell the difference from an 88 and 89 crx as well as 90 and 91. Very small differences but its completely obvious to me. (I come from a history of CRX's)
