its really up to you.

ive driven both an ap1 and ap2. redline and tq difference is not an issue to me.

the ap2 does have a slightly stiffer spring rate but thats it as far as handling that i noticed at least.

nowadays, as somebody mentioned, going after low mileage and good deal would be the smartest thing. but i guarantee you as long as its an S2000 you should be able to enjoy it very much.
ap2 has stiffer springs? are you kidding?

the roll was reduced to its not as stiff, but the springrates increased.

"stiffer" may not have been the correct word to use. my bad.

Less stiffer rear roll bar in AP2 (but can be remedied for $110), stiffer springs up front, softer in the rear.

I say:

Do you want a faster car, or a car that revs to 8700 (the AP1 doesn't really rev to 9k)?

Which bodywork to you prefer?

What about those wider AP2 wheels?

How about that louder AP2 horn?

Whatever you do, watch out for the FUGLY carpet center console in the earlier models.

Would you prefer to not burn oil (get AP2)?

Does 1MPG highway difference bother you?

Have you compared Spa Yellow and Rio Yellow Pearl? Do it.

What I rly wanted to ask was, which model responds better to mods/is safer to SC. I've heard of s2ks having problems with rods snapping under boost.

Way to answer the OP's question, dude. Congrats on your new MY04 but please don't let your enthusiasm start a completely pointless AP1vAP2 debate that has even less to do with this thread's question.

One last question for now.
Wanted to get this verified before I go on thinkin what i'm thinkin, the ap1 has a longer final drive gear, and a higher top speed right? If so, how have the ap1 tranny to ap2 motor swaps been holdin up? Perty blunt question, but plz answer if ya can.

Hey children, no personal attacks.

And Artric, you might want to check your facts on AP1s...
