Ap1 with Ap2 trans / Act clutch and 4.77 gears
So I now have my ACT clutch and a 05 Ap2 tranny on my Ap1 with 4.77 gears.... It is a great upgrade over the AP1 tranny and stock clutch. My stock clutch was alittle warn also. The main reason I went for this upgrade was that I was having issues with the clutch releasing. The other issues I was having are as followed:
When driving through parking lots at a low speed I would hear rattleing coming from under the car.
When coming to a stop the rear end would thump slightly at around 5mph unless I pushed the clutch in.
When I would drive, say in a fast food drive through in pull forward slightly and push the clutch in you would hear banging like the clutch was not releasing quick enough.
Also when I would pull into my driveway I would hear a knock like it was the suspension.
Sometimes when going in reverse it would feel like it was binding and would start to go back then stop like I had a wheel chuck under the tire. When I would pull forward or push the clutch in a few times I would work fine. Not the normal when sometimes you would have to put in first the reverse, this was totally diffrent.
Happy to say all problems are solved with replacing clutch and transmission.
With the 4.77 gears BEFORE the Ap2 tranny I would be at 5000 rpm doing 80 mph.
AFTER the ap2 transmission im at 4500 at 80mph.
The car does pull alittle stronger, even though im still breaking in the clutch so I can't rev that high, which is where I notice the main difference between the 4.77 and the 4.10 gears.
The ACT clutch ( heavy duty pressure plate and street disc) has a heavier pedal feel ( I personally like it).
It grabs nice, no delay between shifts and no bog at the line. I would worry about your diff if driven to aggressive or launched.
Also have give thanks to S.2.K who sold me the trans.
