AP2 with 9k redline?
Strange I was about to ask the Oz community a similar question. I saw an add for an ap2 the other day, and they had a pic of the dash. It had the ap2 dash, but the redline was at 9k not 8.3K(?).
Also when I last had my S in for a service, I mentioned an f22c to the service crew and they had never heard of or seen the f22c.

Just because it has an f20 doesn't mean its an Ap1.
On the contrary, exactly because of the fact that it does have the F20 makes it an AP1.

• APx is Honda's S2000 chassis definition. Original S2000s made from 2000 to 2003 are AP1 chassis, while S2000s made from 2004 on are all AP2 chassis. The differences are significant and can be found in the model year FAQ (see link above).
It is important to note that in 2004, North American S2000s got a revised engine, commonly known as the AP2 engine (F22C) - this is the 2.2L stroked engine. Europe and Asia continued to get the 2.0L engine (F20C) in the AP2 chassis, but Japan got the stroked 2.2L engine starting in 2006. In Europe and parts of Asia/Australia today, you still get a 2.0L engine in the AP2 chassis.

I know a lot of AP2 guys with the reflash mod switching to AP1 clusters because it's easier to read 8.5k
I wish they made the vtec range wider than normal
