AP2 Shift Knob Question
Hey everyone,
Quick question. It seems some people are saying the stock shift knob is hollow inside? Is that confirmed, or is it only the Ti ones that are hollow?
If it is hollow, anyone know how thick the top is? I want to engrave my own design into my shifter, but I really like the leather wrapped stock shifter. If it's doable, I'd just want to take a flycutter or endmill and just take the top layer with engraving off, and run the engraver on a cnc mill to redo it with my design.
Any thoughts? Think it'll work, or not enough material underneath?

Doesn't feel like it's hollow...
I've always just thought it was solid billet, as it seems like it'd be a waste of time trying to form a hollow shift knob instead of just cutting it out of billet.
But then, the Ti's are hollow? And someone mentioned the stock one too, I just can't seem to find any more info on it. =I I wish search worked past the first page. haha
I have mine in my hand now. I don't believe it is hollow (except where it is drilled and tapped). I replaced mine with a voodoo knob to shorten the shifter.
So, if the stock one is not hollow, take a depth mic to see how deep the drilled and tapped hole is. The over all height minus that number will give you the amount of material you have to work with.
