Default AP2 Top Speed

I have a gear ratio spreadsheet and I plugged in the numbers for an AP2 ('06) and came up with a top speed of 174.87 (not taking into account drag). Here is a screen shot of the spreadsheet:

This data tells me that I could jack up the rear end, take the car to redline in 6th gear, and the speedo would read ~174.

Am I missing anything here?

Yes. You are missing the fact that you would have to jack up the BACK END

In theory you can also note your speed at 4000 rpm in 6th gear, and double it to get your theoretical redline limited top speed.

Of course, if that were true, my old Integra would've gone 160, but it didn't

Your numbers are not right. Max speed of an AP2 without drag/friction is 150 mph.
At 4000 rpm in 6th I'm doing 75 mph. Twice the rpm will get me 150 mph.

No, my numbers aren't off. The numbers are straight from Honda's published specifications (concerning gear ratios). The spreadsheet only illustrates what the car is capable of...gear ratio wise...and not taking into account drag (which is where the 'real world' comes into play).

so what good are those numbers? feed good numbers? Are you planning to driving in space or the moon?

in the "real world" those numbers are way way off.

Ok...I made two mistakes:

1. I didn't take into account the vehicle is RWD, therefore the rear end needs to be jacked up.
2. Since I didn't take into account it is RWD, I didn't use the rear tires to calculate tire diameter. Acknowleding my errors, I plugged in the correct tire diameter for the stock rear tire.

Here is the updated spreadsheet:

I don't fully understand what is going on here. Can someone please explain?

Ok smart one...in case you didn't READ...I stated the numbers don't take into account drag. No need to be an ass. Simply validate the gear ratios and the numbers speak for themselves. Whether they are achievable is another story.

i know this is totally of topic, but even if you top out your s, many have done this, your not getting an acurate speed anyway. factory speedos are grossly inacurate over 110mph. my car at 125 is doing 118mph GPS.

well atleast i hope this is true or else i got something bad going on!

p.s
i am on stock ap1 wheels.
