I bought my arc from evasive motorsports it was $637 to my door here in miami florida. The roads flood really bad here in miami I cant stress enough the piece of mind that its given me, the v2 that I had inhaled water twice, twice i had to suck water out of the throttle body with a vacuum cleaner, how scary is that? It is by far the best looking intake for the s2000. It has insane craftsmanship down to the clamps and silicone tubing. One complaint, the instructions suck but you can figure it out its just a p.i.t.a. at first. All the people that talk sh@$ about it I invite you to take a ride in my car and then tell me the same, I guarantee that you'll change your mind. The car pulls hard all the way to the top. It feels like there is no dip in the powerband whatsoever. Another plus it doesnt change the sound of the engine whatsoever at vtec engagement like other intakes do with their synthetic sound, at high rpm the car screams like it should. Next mods j's racing exhaust and header. This car was built to scream and scream it shall.

I am not going to get into it but you do realize that it is considered a HAI right? With an OEM hood the intake sucks air in from your engine bay which gets really, really hot if you haven't noticed, thus the power loss. On top of that even if you run a vented hood that can make things even worse with hydrolocking issues from the rain if the foam/filter is exposed which is what I usually see (I see this all the time). Thats a no no in a state that rains a lot such as Hawaii or Washington or Alaska.

It is a nice bling piece and thats all it is regardless if you think by your butt metter that your going faster.
I think Turbopwr already gave us the low down on this intake.

I'm going to PRM myself. I had the pleasure of seeing/hearing it in person. I just need MONEY first.

Well, if the ARC draws its air from inside the engine bay, I find it difficult to see how it is any better than OEM. Because (IMO) THAT is the problem with OEM! The other cars I own (a Mercedes and a Ford) have intake ducting that runs from an intake horn behind the grill to the filter box. ALL other modern cars I've raised the hood on seem to have some version of intake of outside air. Only the s2k comes with an air intake that is isolated from outside air --- and right over the radiator for God's sake.

For any s2k air intake mod, I'd certainly recommend one that would access outside air. A Spoon comes to mind. On my car, I have "jerry rigged" sort of a home-made device that works like a Spoon but without the "kinks " that restrict airflow. No staggering power gains or changes in sound, but also no heat-soak bogging. Not very pretty, but it does what I wanted it to do.

I personally question use of AEMs and other "CAIs" that hang low in the engine bay, near the road surface. In addition to hydrolocking stories, do you know how hot that road surface gets?! Oh, in driving at high speed on a track, they probably do some good. But for regular driving? I think I'd forget those too.

Thanks,
Richard

I have not heard any negative things from the PRM.

I am not bashing AEM. I used to have one back in the day. I had the Version 1 intake about 4 years ago and almost hydrolocked my car so I said never again. Not worth it. Just one bad experience that put a bad taste in my mouth did it for me.

The ARC is a nice pretty piece but not worth the money IMO. Why not spend $1300 on the Js or $1500 on the Mugen if your going to spend $600 on that one?

$1300 is nowhere clost to $600. You can't make a statement like that. That's over double the price.

Anyway, it's not like you're reduced to the power of a civic once you put the ARC in. True, it's not as good as directing cold air as the others and my Injen definitely feels stronger than when I had the ARC on. However, it's still a nice peice to have that doesn't harm performance greatly. I've tracked my car with the ARC and it did just fine.

For those that have never seen it, there is another filter on the left side of the box that gets colder air than the one on top. True it's not the perfect system, but it fills up the engine bay and is unique.

You also have to remember $1300 to you may be a bowl of cereal to another person . Sad to say but very true today. I for one would spend another $700 and get what I want rather than to settle for something less. Thats just me and I know there are hundreds of others that are in the same boat. So, yes I can make a statement like that.
