Careful! I thought you already had a convex mirror on both sides like the people in the UK?

Maybe I can help.........

I am going back home to Melbourne, Australia on July 5 to visit my family for 3.5 weeks. I could place the requisite mirror orders while I was there and it would give me sufficient time for the dealer to fulfil the order if they had to order quantity. What I can do is post the price once I go to see the dealer.

I'd like to think the price with shipping will be better than the rate ATLJV got the mirror for. But I would want to reserve making any claims until I actually know the price. As I would buy them in Australia, I would likely get charged local GST. I'd still like to think that overall with delivery, they would be cheaper than the price ATLJV received.

I could bring them back in my suitcase when I return on August 4 and them ship them out to everybody through FedEx basically the next day.

I can accept payment through PayPal, and as I can access my account from Australia, I can see who has paid, and therefore, exactly how many to order.

How does that sound? Interested parties, please let me know via PM or email.

Thanks!

Sime, that sounds great ! FEDEX will add a little to the cost. The airmail post from AU was $AU 6.50 in a A4 size padded Bag. Shipping Weight was .212kg I bet that is cheaper than domestic FEDEX. If you get more than 15 or so mirrors you might just ship from AU so you don't risk being over the US customs limit and having to pay duty.

ATLJV, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking. Depending on how many orders I get will determine how I bring them into the country. I don't want to be stung by import taxes!!! Did they send the mirror via International Priority Paid? Two weeks delivery time and $6.50USD is excellent!! Was that insured?

Usually FedEx ground on a part like that would be about $5 USD. Wow...only $1.50 more to come all the way from Australia! Also, the reason why I need to confirm the price when I am in Australia is that the Aussie dollar is creeping up in value...so I need to factor in exchange rates and a little for my time/packaging materials. I'll still have to factor in GST...something I suspect the place didn't have to do as they were shipping the mirror directly out of the country.

Sounds like a plan!

Cheers!

The package says nothing about insurance.

A few dealers have E-mail parts inquiry. You might try a few before you begin your trip.

Dealer Locator

Good Luck ! Have a VB for me when you're there.

Or you could just do a trans-pacific swap!. Find an owner in the US and an owner in Australia and swap passenger mirrors.

Or you could just do schatten's mod. Put a couple of washers under the mirror motor mounts nearest the door. That's what I did and it eliminated my blind spot. There used to be a FAQ in the library, but its seems to be gone now.

Sime, I'm interested. PM on the way. If you come back with all those mirrors in your suitcase, the customs guys will think you're real vain or something.

To those who contacted me requesting this mirror....

My local dealer is checking availability of these for me. The price given me is so far cheaper than that listed above. They seemed amenable to discounting for bulk purchases. I will confirm this and what price I could do it for once they phone me back. I'll then compare to the supplier above and see who gives me the best price.

More info shortly.
