avoid S because of clutch?

....but i will almost always shift at 9k.

I am replacing my clutch after 24,000 miles.....those are 24,000 very very hard miles (not to mention in one year of ownership, and 10 months of driving) so if you treat the car right, and dont launch hard it will last some time....i am disappointed, but at the same time, considering the torture this clutch goes through at 9000 RPM, i am also impressed it lasted this long with my driving habit. With any high performance car, comes high performance maintainence.

thats what i am looking to here... some of the older threads showed people replacing their clutch repeatedly (with little or no abuse).

I would make one recommendation when driving this car: do not slip the clutch with the engine turning at any speed at all. This will burn the clutch. I took off across a busy road and didn't want to stall the engine, so I slipped the clutch to get going with the engine running at about 3500 RPM. This clutch really stinks when you do that. The smell from the burning clutch is very overpowering. I did the same thing trying to drive up my Rhino ramps in the garage. Keep the RPMs down if you need to slip the clutch.
Even if you do scorch the clutch, it's not the end of the world. It will be OK, just smelly for a short time.
We just got our 00 back from the TSB work, 19k miles. They also changed the convertible cover so it didn't pinch the seat belts when the seats were as far back as they will go, did the spark plug change and they replaced the strike plates for the top when up. The clutch worked fine but had severe buzzing (gone now), the seat belts work great no matter where the seats are with the top down and cover on, and with the top up we get no whistling no matter how fast we go and/or whether we drive in a head wind or not.
Bought the car with 18k, out of warranty. All done for free and a great car is now even better.

I have a 2003 with 10k miles , my problem is ...
When i depress the clutch pedal it makes an awful sound (like a old door creak).
I've taken the car to service at Honda and they can't find the reason for it.
I guess ill replace the clutch and see what happens..... I'm very dissapointed
