avoid S because of clutch?

Your question seems to only apply to those that have had to replace the clutch. Therefore your sample set is going to be based on those that have actually replaced the clutch. I have not and there isn't an answer category that would apply to me or anyone else that is on the original clutch, unless I am reading it wrong.

Also, consider that people, in general, comment on negative items. You are not going to get unsolicited comments from people posting about how great their clutches have been and how they have not had any problems. What you see is a very, very small percentage of actual owners on this site and an even smaller sample of owners with problems. In addition, the people who are on this site will be more representative of an anal, fanatic, passionate owner, which is cool.

Also, notice that you see alot of comments like...Wow this car is awesome! Typically, 3 times as many people are likely to comment on bad experiences in comparison to good ones and the fact that you get positive comments at all should tell you that this car is AWESOME.

I wouldn't let the clutch issue hold you back. No car is 100% perfect from any manufacturer, it just so happens that we have a great group of people who communicate and that gives you information at your fingertips.
