Default AWD s2000

Does anyone know around how much it would cost to make an s2000 awd. Image an s2000 awd it would easily woop an srt4 from a complete stop.

Am i missinterperting the definition of mid-engine? Becasue i could've sworn the S is Front engine Rear wheel drive. What i know as a mid-engine car means the engine is placed behind the cabin. Please correct me if im wrong.

And as for my input on the AWD matter, making the S a 4 wheel drvie would significantly increase the weight of the car and the current 240 horses would not be adequate to drive the car any faster and actually be slower.

just my 2cents

you are right about the weight dissadvantage.
and yes a mid-engine design means a chassis layout that positions the engine behind the passenger compartment but ahead of the rear axle.

That is a very narrow interpretation of the term "mid-engine". In fact, a broader (and in fact more literally correct) definition is a vehicle whose engine resides between the axles (i.e., wheel centerlines). So, from that standpoint, the S2000 is mid-engined, though to most of us that description applies more easily to Boxsters, MR2s, Dinos, etc.

On the subject of an AWD S2000, I think you'd have to be on crack. In the first place, the front of the engine is exactly where you'd need to put the front differential. There's no room for the prop shaft that would connect the gearbox to the front diff, you'd have to design your own uprights... this list goes on and on. You'd be better off building a car from scratch.

Not to say that it would be a good idea performance-wise, either. Not only are you adding a lot of weight, but the S2000 is a relatively low-torque motor, which is distinctly at odds with an AWD drivetrain.

any car that has engine between front and rear axle is mid-engine.

if you look at engine bay of s2000, engine is completely tucked behind of front axle.
This is why s2000 hood is ridiculusly long. (take a close look, hood is so long and yet engine is all the way in the back)

50/50 weight distribution is another characteristic of mid-engine vehicles, even though s2000 is 51/49.

get an EVO IIV or STI motor/drive train swap and try that. It would just be for shits and giggles... but why not. I would love to see something like that.

Actually, I would pay to see something like that.

While you're at it, why don't you make the car into a submarine, like James Bond's Lotus Esprit in "The Spy Who Loved Me?"

Oh yeah...
