no..isn't that called a front midship engine? that means that it's mounted behind the front axle but in front of the passenger compartment
a mid engine HAS to be behind the passenger compartment and in front of rear axle
no, cars like the S2000 and Ferrari 612 are mid engine by definition. the motor resides completely behind the front shock towers and in front of the rear shock towers. doesn't matter what position the driver is in relative to the engine if the weight distribution's still 50/50 or 51/49 as it were.

of course, a stock S2000 already "smokes" a SRT4 by several tenths anyway.
The S2000 also smokes the SRT-4 by not looking like an extremely gay Dodge Neon.

Leave the engine where its at, extend the nose (even more ) and place a secondary engine there that will drive the front wheels (H22A ), anybody seen that hyundai with an engine in the trunk and one in the front? for a whopping 400hp+, dude put it in reverse and the other in drive and got the sickest burn out ever........

I bet Z cars could make you a 4WD S2000 if you payed them enough. They are currently building a 4WD twin engined Ultima for some guy.

just my two cents on the whole mid-engine thing. Mid does mean middle right? I do believe the word "mid" is an abbreviation for middle and "engine" is engine. So what ppl are really saying is "middle engine." It does not matter whether the engine is in front of or behind the cabin so long as it is in the middle...if your going to call it a "middle engine." So far everyone should at least agree on this (i should hope). Now, some may measure the lengths of the car and divide it by two, and if comes pretty close to the middle of the car (say where the engine is) then they would call that car a mid-engine car. Others may use weight distribution relative to the entire car...not just the cabin. So with the this vehicle haveing a weight distribution of say, 51/49...I would say that's pretty close to middle-ish. So whether you measure it or distribute its weight, it all seems to point pretty close towards the middle of the car. We can go a step further and call this car an S2000. Now before some "incredibly intelligent mechanic" replies to this attempting to proove their point...I did state that this was simply my two cents. We all came here for the love of the car...not where its engine is. Peace!

PS. Sorry if I have offended anyone, that was merely the point.

SRT-4? So you are genuinely wondering what would cost to make automotive gem, S2000 into a dragster that beats Neon off the line?

Are you bored?

How about taking your S2000 to auto-x events or HPDE events?

Ok, not sure where you guys are getting this "S2000 is mid engined car" statement.

By classification within automotive world, real life application, S2000 is FR. Front Engined Rear Drive car. For it to be called Mid-engined car, you want the engine to be located behind driver seat but way before the rear axle and differential assemble. NSX is good example of Mid Engined Car, Carrera GT is good example of Mid Engined car. S2000 isn't so let's not confuse the public here.

If you want to argue this fact please email EVO editiors in UK.
