yeah i agree, disable the airbag first, have you thought about getting a cheaper "family" car, then you can still keep the s, but some nice baby seats would be a cool touch to new father's car =)

Search for the airbag shut off DIY, it's not that hard.

Newborns have to be rear facing up until 30 pounds I believe.

After that,

Right, but it's not what the seat can hold, it's what the state/local law states.

If you had an alternative car, where the baby is going to be in most of the time, then you may be ok. I sold my 2007 S2000 with less than 4000 miles when I realised I was going to become a dad, even though i swore I would never get rid of the s2K.

I may be paranoid, but its not about how you drive. What happens when someone hits you? Not even at high speed, but at lower speeds? There is a reason they recommend the MIDDLE seat in the back, and there is no option like that in the S2000.

An infant should not be in the front seat period. Do the right thing, don't be selfish, and get an apppropriate car.

its not advisable to put a rear facing baby seat in the front of the car. congrats on your entry to daddyhood time for you to buy an evo, turbo'd, fast, but still has a back seat to safely stash your precious baby

I installed an airbag switch in my '05 and it was a very straightforward and easy install -- took less than 30 minutes.

I believe the cost for the switch was $140 shipped or very close to that.

It's not the primary baby hauler, but it definitely has been very nice that we can carry our 23 month-old daughter when needed in the s2k.
