CrazyRay S2K,

Wow...sorry to hear that.

One question...how long did your friend keep it in 2nd gear during the mis-shift? Did it blow inmediately or did it take a second?

Ray,

That's just not fair. Honda gets to use the board against us, but when we have problems and post about it, we can't use that against them. That's kind of messed up. I guess you were just honest and admitted your mistake.

I think the car should drive the same. I'd just keep the 2001, after all, you just paid $12,000 to fix it.

Anybody saw Motortrend TV that described the 2002 S2000 with a smoother tranny due to public demand ?

I think its time for AHM to put all the BS aside and do customer service right. When I said my 4th gear is poping out, just take it in and fix it right without stupid test drives and tell me "sir, the car is fine" type of BS godamnit.

Ray, I cant believe they use this board where they gained all the ideas and information to make the 2002 the way it is (better !) and at the same time used it to turn their back on their customer. Good luck to you if you do decide to keep the new engine or if you decide on a new 2002. Hope insurance can work out something for you. I think this should be comprehensive lost.

12k is ridiculous! You don`t need a new tranny, just longblock. Install would be cake. I have no idea how they came up w/ 12k! I`d seriously look into a jdm motor. Try jdmhondaparts.com

If you were local, I`d help you install it

Ray = i have no idea where you live, but go buy that used S2000 engine that Huey Tran is selling for $4k!!!!!!! (see the classifieds section of this board)

You will be helping him, and saving yourself like $7k (assuming it costs $1k to be installed).

This is in bold to get your attention and save you a butt load of $!

Forgot to mention that the tranny is coming out too, thats why it is costing so much.

The engine blew automatically. The oil and antifreeze started spraying all over the car behind me. Common sense is when the rev-limiter bounces once jam on the clutch to try to save the engine. But in that split second, the guy froze...

Obviously don't post your name/dealership/VIN # or any other details to lead to your identity for these exact reasons. We always learn the hard way but putting your VIN number in your autosignature is plain cheezy and stupid(I am not saying you did but I have seen it before) especially if you can't afford the new engine or warranty work period. Sorry to hear that this happened.
Did you try to deny your identity?

I wonder how many S2000's end up in the shop with a blown engine each week...?

Seriously, though, good for you for not putting up an (unjust) fight, CrazyRay. Any idea how much of that $12k is engine, how much is tranny, how much is labor?
