Default Bad Gas Mileage

Ever since I got the car at 29k miles, at 100 miles on the trip im at half a tank. Every time I fill it its about 10-12 gallons. I use premium Shell gas only. About every 3-4 fills I put V-Power in just to clear out most of the gunk (its kind of more like a self-soothing OCD move rather than knowing for sure if it works or not). I get roughly 220-260 every tank before I get a couple bars left and become really worried how much further I have to go until it goes empty. Is this normal, is the s2k really that bad for gas mileage? In my SI I used to get over 300.

Im at 33k miles right now. Have changed fluids, etc. Is there something else I should change that would effect this? Or is this typical gas mileage?

What are you getting in your s2k?

So much depends on HOW you drive. If you are driving in the city with a lot of stop and go driving you will get bad mpg.

Are you running regular gas - hopefully you are using Prem gas only.

I do both, highway and city. But when I went on a trip about 50 minutes away awhile ago (around when I first bought it) I had half a tank, on my trip back home I could see the bars go down and ended up getting home with a gas light on and 2 bars left. I baby it everytime I fill it because I like to savor the moment of it being full. I shift at about 3500- rpms. And even double shift.

Yes, Premium gas ONLY

I've just completed doing 2 tank checks...even though one
was carried over to an extra tank of fuel.

The first tank was measured at 315 miles..ended up with 28.8MPG
which was roughly 60% hwy 40% city
The other..checked at 625 miles got me 27.6MPG 55% hwy 45% city.

I do nothing special...but usually shift at 4K..I think this car can be
very racy if shifted aggressively at 4K..and on the hwy I do cruise
at 71MPH....but there were times I for sure was in the VTECH..

Havnt done spark plugs yet. I have a Fujita CAI that needs to be put in. At EXACTLY 90-100 miles im at half a tank. I know we only have like a 13.4 gallon tank but WTF.

I average 210-225 per tank with a LOT of VTEC moments.

if you're getting about 20-22mpg combined then that sounds normal. there's always a few people that say they get 42 mpg with 99% city driving in every forum. honestly i don't believe any of it but i guess it also depends where you live as well. "city driving" in nyc is probably wayyyy different than "city driving" in kansas.
