Some clown behind me at a stoplight took off before I did and had the same thing happen. I very nearly lost it, as I flew out of the car. I actually had to calm myself down before I started cursing the guy. I got it fixed a few weeks later. A couple weeks after that, someone hit the same spot, while I was inside a store. I've now learned to accept that people are assholes, and that my car will not stay as pristine as I want. That said, is anyone ever able to get extra money from the other person's insurance to cover the loss in value during re-sale? I know that number would be hard to pin down, but just curious if anyone knows the rules on that one. I didn't think to try for it with my wreck. Maybe you can at least get some extra dough to cover the lost value, man. Sorry to hear about your wreck. It will hurt every day you see it, and even more when you wash it, and it looks perfect- except for that huge mark in the back. I feel your pain.

I wouldn't go with 04 bumper unless you were going to the same with
the front bumper.

I had the opposite happened to me. The guy stops at a redlight to make a
right turn, the guy started to go and I followed, all of a sudden the guy
stops and I bump into him. Luckily I wasn't going fast and nothing was
damaged. The 5mph bumper really works.

WHY in this car do people feel they need to be 3" off my rear at all times???

Back to the bumper issue - my husband (when my car was only 2 months old) took a corner (and a curb, after driving through a puddle) AND downshifted, ending up in a ditch on some very wide grating over a culvert. It took chunks out of my 2 left wheels and tires and cracked the front bumper. 1-1/2 weeks later the car was ready at the body shop. Just before I left the house to pick it up I got a call from the body shop guy "Uh, we had the car almost ready to go but when we were reattaching the newly-painted front bumper it didn't look quite right --- apparently we got an earlier model bumper packaged as an '04". Ennyhow, that added another few days to my getting the car back. Just doublecheck if you do go with an '04 (especially in the front) that it will align properly before you order one - I'm not totally sure what the issues were, but it was enough to red flag them that they had the wrong bumper.
