Default BAD SELLER ALERT!

I posted this in the FS forum, but wanted to make sure that you were aware to protect the rest of s2ki.

I purchased an iPod from "if looz kill" from the following thread with the intent to give it to my g/f as she really wanted an iPod. I figured it was inexpensive and according to him worked, so I would purchase it.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...=487592&hl=ipod

I PMed him and sent payment right away on May 8th. He shipped it out on the 8th and I got it on the 10th. It was wrapped up in a DIRTY and SMELLY rag within a small envelope. The postage said something to the effect of $0.20 or something to that nature, so he obviously didn't spend the $ to send it correctly. I PMed him letting him know that when I tried to turn it on for the 1st time, I got a "sad Mac" which is a sad face on the ipod. Apparently this is a pretty common problem and means that the ipod is broken.

He PMs me back on the 11th stating that there is no way it could be broken and suggests that I try to reflash it or "shake the hardrive" which means that I would need to open the iPod and take the hardrive out. I told him that I would try reflashing, but wouldn't open up the iPod as I purchased an iPod in working condition and didn't feel comfortable opening it up.

I tried reflashing it without any luck, so I PM him on the 11th letting him know the reflashing didn't work and I want a refund and asked where to send the iPod back to. No reply, so I PMed him on the 15th. No reply, so I PM him again letting him know that I am annoyed and want a refund. He finally replies today stating, "I don't know what to say. I didn't sell you anything broken, and I can't offer you a refund. The picture I put up before I sold it to you shows that the ipod was working when it was shipped out to you."

I am going to file a claim with PayPal and let them decide whether I should get my money back.

Moral of the story: BEWARE OF "IF LOOKZ KILL"

My thinking is, "My good name here is worth more than $65 bucks". If I were he, I would refund the money and kick my self in the a$$ for doing a crappy pack and ship It may have worked before he sent it but, he disregarded to send it in a nice clean well packed box with the standard $100 of insurance...

I just sent a flywheel out to a guy and it is packed in foam and bubble pack. The thing is made of steel but, I don't send anything out that I would not want to receive.

I just read everything... I believe you deserve 100% back. Regardless, if it is only $65, you should get it all back. Everyone needs to know if he was to let this go 50/50, its more of a reason for other sellers to do what this seller did. Your just giving this guy another go at it. In the sellers position, the seller just got $30 for free and will keep selling broken items at cheap price just to settle 50/50 again. Or in this case, not packaged correctly.
And then you'll have those few that would just say take the 50/50, its not that much anyways. When the seller keeps doing this, it does add up to a good amount I'm pretty sure. I dont really know if the item was broken before shipping or what, but at least the shipper will know next time to package it correctly.
Good Luck with it.

Exactly. So if I sell a $1000 Canon camera and tell them it's working even if it's not, I deserve to keep $500 of it?

My ipod has the same sad face, it may have been working when he shipped it, but because of the poor shipping it must have been shaking and banging around which causes the hard drive to fail. My ipod broke the same way after leaving it in my glove compartment for too long
