# of bars = how many gallons of gasoline?
I think I tired filling up at zero bar. did some math and find out it still had about 2.5~3 gallon left.
my mpg is averaging about 24 mpg, with the max of local and freeway (i would say about 40/60) ...
am i driving too conservatively?

The accuracy of the gas guage is so inconsistent from car to car. I've filled up at no bars before and still had about 2 gallons in the tank. You really can't depend on the bars to know how much gas is in the tank.
I get about 20 MPG.

How long do you think it takes until the engine is broken in for consistent gas consumption? When I look back at when I got my RAV 4, I think the fuel consumption was pretty crappy in the beginning as well and then improved and stabilized once I hit 2,000 miles or so. It's probably the same with the S2000?
Which brings me to another point. Those EPA statistics are pretty much calculated in a controlled lab environment (aka fairy land), but shouldn't there be some kind of recognizable relationship between those numbers and what we see in everyday driving?

Thanks for the responese.
I'm going to keep a MPG record just because I love numbers. I'm also going to keep track of the number of bars (hopefully they are easy enough to count... 10 orange bars per side of 1/2, right?).
I'll eventually report my results as #bars vs (13.2-gals pumped=how much gas was in the tank)

Good luck, just don't run out of gas.
Like I said previously, the meter is not very accurate.

I was driving home from work on the highway and the gas light came on with no bars - I was panicking and made it to the first gas station where I found out I had around 2 gallons left
Now I go by the odometer
