Haha. How many Cold Cranking Amps does that little midget have? The original poster and I both live in the "frozen north". I don't know if he drives his car when the temps gets down to brass monkey cold, but I do. That little thing wouldn't run my toothbrush at 25 degrees below zero celcius, let alone crank my engine.

Got my walmart replacement a week ago for $42. Same size and weight. It doesn't get any cheaper than that

I just noticed that under your avatar, it says you have a MY2000. If this is correct and this is the very first battery replacement for your car, this is most remarkable. Most stock batteries last about 3 years (give or take a year). It seems to me that you've had great success with the stock Panasonic battery. It obviously works the "best" for you. You might consider just replacing it with the same from your dealer. Stick with what works for you.
The OEM battery in my MY2000 also gave out a few weeks ago -- it lasted 6 years. I tried to "stick with what works" and replace it with the "same" battery from the Honda dealer, unfortunately the original was made by Panasonic and the new "OEM replacement" batteries are now made by Interstate. So it is not possible to "replace it with the same". But I bought the Honda replacement anyway for $100 installed.

I wonder what batteries are installed in the current S2000s direct from the factory; if they are still made by Panasonic, then why don't the Honda dealers make that available in the States as a replacement? I like a battery that lasted 6 years.

Around 300 CCA would be good for you. The typical batteries of the stock size run about 500 to 550 CCA.
I used one of those little Hawker batteries from about spring till just into the beginning of winter once. It worked just fine throughout the warm months, but when the temps dropped below freezing, I could tell the engine started to crank with some effort. I wasn't going to wait till the temps got down to extremes. Oh, I do not have any high output sound equipment on the car or any other high energy draw accessories.

Bummer! Well, nothing wrong with Interstate.

The batteries in the S2000 when they leave the factory continue to be the Panasonic....I hated the OPTIMA yellow top in my older civic. I had 3 in six months. I was fortunate that pepboys kept letting me exchange them.

Battery will last 3-4 years;get the cheapest one, that fits, and gets the job done.
If you want to save 10 #,empty your windshield washer reservoir,it's free.
