This happens mainly in the non-euro dealerships. I work for Penske Automotive at a giant dealership complex at North Scottsdale that has BMW, Porsche, Audi, Land Rover, Jaguar, VW, Acura, and Volvo. I can tell you that things of that nature do not occur 99.999999% of the time. Its sad to see it happen in less affluent dealerships and manufacturers.

The service guy says that when he was testing the car he "got into a skid" and crashed into a wall. bull****, Whenever you go to trade the car in, you are probably gonna lose at least 20% 
of what the car is really worth!!! If i were you i'd tell them that you want what the car was worth b4 it was crashed (i work in a dealer and if you fight/argue with them and dont take "NO" for an answer you will get what you DESERVE $$$$$) Trust me man, dont take no for an answer i cant stress that enough, they will say "we will leave it like new, Trust me we will"! Or tell them that you want a new car!!!! The car will never b the same than when you brought it 
Tell them you want a new s2k or you will sue, they will give you a good actaully the best deal, they can give you on a new one wich is: invoice mines rebate (i doubt it has a rebate tho) mines holdback invoice is $30,838-holdback about $1500-2000 and it doesnt have a rebate. Trust me man DONT GIVE IN
