I think it's a waste when a sports car is babied and driven like a Camry.

I like the dirty, dirty, track whore look.

That could have been my car you saw. I don't have time to do a nice hand-wash on the car very often and it seems like every time I do, it rains, or I drive through some construction, or something. And my garage isn't very nice so there's lots of dust even if it never rains.

I spot-clean the bird shit so it doesn't eat the paint, and I'm quick to touch up any chips, and when I have a chance to wash it I do, but if the car is dirty as hell (like it is right now) I'm not going to sweat it, I bought it to drive it and enjoy it.

I don't believe the whole "priorities" arguement. Even if you have a Lambo/Ferrari/Bentley as your good car, you should take care of ALL your belongings whether it's Maserati, or beater Civic/S2000.

This carries on to any possessions you have. Isn't it a good thing to take care of your home? Dusting your furniture? Vacuuming your carpets? Etc...

It's simply a reflection of your character. I see a dirty car/dirty house as the owner is dirty too. Chances are that their Ferrari (if they have one) is also dirty. You don't need to wash/buff/claybar your beater, but it also shouldn't have bird crap and mud all over it.

I don't think anyone really gives a sh*t. It's just a comment. You see people very day walking the streets and driving on your roads, when I see someone who doesn't take care of their belongings, I see it simply as a reflection of their character.

Do I care about them? Not at all. But if it was someone I met recently, my thoughts of the person would play a larger role if I wanted to be-friend them.

so you decide whether or not to be friends with someone based soley on how clean their car is?

typical consumeristic brainwashed crap.

I guess one can see it as a larger issue when you have people buying sport/lux cars - most people buy them to show off... but these are tangible objects here. they won't last forever.

and even if they do, you won't.

again, who gives a **** about other people? both how they may judge you, or how you may judge them.

just worry about yourself.

Not in those words exactly. Car, clothes, home, personal belongings, personal hygeine, etc. It's all the same thing.

It all says something about your character. And yes, I pick my friends on character.

funny, I've known a lot of assholes with nice homes, clean cars, and high-end cloths.

character goes further than appearance and material possessions.

Well they don't count because they just use their baller status and pay maids to clean their stuff.
