To me it doesn't matter what car you own. It should always be clean. When I say clean, I don't mean you should wash and wax it daily or even weekly because honestly most people don't have the time. I keep the interior absolutely mint because that is the part of the car I am actually in and come in contact with. The interior gets cleaned once a week minimum for dust and dirt. The exterior I can and sometimes don't wash weekly, but I try to. Owning a black car, it gets dirty real fast.

For me it doesn't matter what car it is. All my cars have and continue to receive the same attention. I treated my civic and tsx (my previous cars) the same way I treat my s2k. We have a 07 lexus gs350awd and a 95 honda civic as well and both those get the same treatment. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer my posessions to be clean/spotless whether it is a car or a home.

My two cents.

I went out to clean my car last week. As I got started, I had an incredible urge to go drive it.

So I did. And it still hasn't been washed.

As so is the definition of true love of driving.

PS...a smattering of dirt makes you car more manly. Especially if it has cat paw-prints on it.

Not Good: Street driving only, dirty car
Good: Street driving only, clean car
Better: Track driving, dirty car
Best: Track driving, clean car

I won't knock a dirty car unless it's obvious the person is just a total slob. However, it's a million for the person who puts out the effort to fall into the "track driving, clean car" category. I'm doing my best to keep my car there.

This thread is retarded. The dirtiness of someone's car is not a reflection of their character

I don't want to turn this into an arguement but....

Is it not? Character is obviously made up of many things, and this is simply a small part. Not washing your car for a couple of weeks is not a big deal, but when you have months of bird crap, mud, etc, then that's a different story. You're saying that if I get into someone's car and the inside is strewn with old soda cans, trash, Burger King takeout bags from 2 weeks ago.....that doesn't say something about his/her character?

It most certainly does. The same goes for the cleanliness of your home/room.

You measure someone's character by what they do for those who can do nothing for them. You measure someone's character by how they treat others and how they take care of their family. Material posessions are not how you measure someone's character.

Material possessions are just that -- material possessions. Someone with a bunch of garbage inside their car is most likely a slob -- I certainly don't keep my car that way, it's a mess. I keep my house (that I own) clean as well. But many people just don't care how the outside of their car looks. Maybe it's their beater. Many people don't care about cars at all. It does not make them lazy or slobs, they just don't care how their car looks. Fastidiously caring for every single one of your material possessions is not the most productive use of time for everyone. And to judge someone on a basis of their things is such a tiny thing to do.

Consider the area you saw it in as well! I can't keep my car clean for more than an hour or so. The dust and dryness in my city is horrendous and even with 2-3 washes per week you will almost never see it in tip top form.

It's so common to have every car covered in a layer of dust that my buddy walked up the other day after a wash and said "wow, it looks amazing, did you polish and wax it?"

I had just sprayed the dust and dried it off.

Joke- The dirty, scroungy, smelly long haired hippy looking guy sat down in the bus next to a prim, clean and tidy looking elderly woman. The woman says "cleanliness is next to Godliness, (Longfellow)" The hippy answers "f$%k you(Tennesee Williams)". Couldn't resist.

Those are two completely different things. One you control, one you do not. I totally agree that someone who lacks the care to throw away their greasy McDonalds bags and piles trash up in their car DOES have flawed character, because that require minimal effort to keep up on, and they're not willing to do that.

But, you can't control when it rains or when you follow a dump truck or when a flock of birds shit all over your car. If you leave the car at home because it's clean, and it might get rained or crapped on, you're missing out on the fun.
