I bought a lovely 1992 Mercury Tracer, 110k miles, dented, dinged, PERFECT for Wisconsin winters. A guy I work with was going to Brussels as an expat and waited until a week before he left before thinking about getting rid of the car. Paid $500 in $100 monthy installments So far I've got about 900 miles on it and things are going well. Knock on wood.

Hey S2000inbigD, isn't the TD the MB wagon? Yea, that thing is a beast!

My other car is a 92 4Runner with 78k miles on it. I picked it up in the summer and I have put a whopping 1300 miles on it so far! But for Chicago, it's a perfect winter car/truck...

This has come up before, suprising how many have an old pickup as a second vehicle/beater, an "anti-S2000". Mine is a '83 Chevy S10 (my other "S") beater pickup in two tone faded blue. Mine is a '90 Nissan Pickup with 53,000 original miles on it. No AC and no power steering (great for building upper body strength while parallel parking!). Paid $2800. for it last September.

I've got a '96 Bonneville I can drive back at home when I don't want to take out the s2k, but when I'm only home once every couple of months, it's so damn tempting just to take it out no matter what the conditions are!

My beater is a Lexus LS400. It's got 114K miles on it now and the dealer assures me that it'll go 300K miles before I even need to think about replacing it. However, I have never owned a car that long. I think the record up to now was 135K miles for my beater AMG Mercedes 500SEC (I bought it used with 85K miles already on it).

But these days, my S2K is my daily driver and the beater comes out only in bad weather or when I know I'll need the space to carry plants or something that spills gunk.
