Very quick FYI I gathered this from someplace, I think Car and Driver. If you travel in Virginia, and the one or two other places that disallow detectors, be sure and carry some type of alcohol swab or wet wipe to clean your windshield where the suction cups which mount your detector to the windshield otherwise they can still search and confiscate your radar detector based on probable cause.

 

Jeeze, sounds like a real police state practice to me. This for a damned radar detector?

 

Don't bet the ranch on that one. A few years ago my wife got ticketed in NJ and it transferred here to NC just fine (where it cost us about $1500 in insurance surcharges). I'd be surprised if it didn't work in reverse, but I hope you're right.

 

You have to call your local DMV office to determine whether or not the points transfer. But just because the points don't transfer does not mean it does not get recorded. Your insurance will still know that you got ticketed so your premiums might still go up. Eliot, Scot, and I were also ticketed in Virginia (Wytheville). As for Reedz because I remember you live in NY. The points don't transfer, Eliot called and checked.
