Gears.

Without a doubt. Had a chance to drive S2Kbreaker's S2000 and it definitely felt faster.

Also, spending some money on driver's education and HPDE is a good investment as well.

I don't know, gears on an AP2? You'll be pushing close to 5krpms around 80 on the freeway I'd imagine. Anybody with an AP2 that has the 4.56's and has some feedback for highway speeds?

I'd get an intake, either a used Rick's header or maybe the new Megan header if it makes gains (yet to be determined), and a nice dual exhaust setup.

In an AP2 at 5k in 6th you're at 84.6 mph with 4.57 gears. At 4K, 67.7 mph.
80mph clocks in at 4730rpm.

80,000 rpm and you'll be close to mach 2 at 1354.3 mph

What do you guys think about an HKS Hi power exhaust, w/ AEM cold air intake?
Also is there a big difference between a cold air intake and the V2 intake?

I have the dual hks hi power and aem combo. I have gotten nothing but great comments on both. The exhaust is deep but not too overbearing. I intake sounds awesome with a nice hum at idle. Some people think it is too loud but I think it sounds good. You can hear what your intake is doing which is a good thing. I am just trying to decide what header to get without spending a fortune. I have the VAFC II only because it was in the car when I bought it. I would happily sell it or trade it off to get a header.

You can get Spugen exhausts from Teamspugen.com and you buy the HKS from many of the sponsors of this site or on ebay for around the same price. Whether or not they are street legal will most likely depend upon your local laws, but I wouldn't think that it would be much of a problem. In NY I have never been pulled over for having my HKS, but then again I don't drive around like boy racer either.
