I was just about ready to buy one of these myself. I could have purchased nearly 3 of these for the price of 1 Optima. With the alarming number of bad reports on Optimas for this car, a Walmart battery sounds like a way better deal.

I sell Optima, for the price and as reported here the problems w/ them, I wouldn't get one. Optima is also having fulfillment problems as of late and no excuse to why...
If you do go w/ an Optima, go w/ the red top in the same group rating. The only real selling point for an Optima is that it is a SEALED battery.

A Wal~Mart battery will be just fine if all you are looking for is a replacement battery. If you want something to pay an arm and a leg for go look for a true GEL cell battery.

Another option many go for is an Odyessy battery, which is a smaller lightweight battery.

You're too honest. What kinda salesman are you anyway?

I used one of these small, lightweight batteries over one summer. It was fine, but as winter approached and the temps fell, it just didn't have sufficient cranking amps to "comfortable" start the car. It would not have done well in the middle of our winters. Also, with a lot of sound equipment or other electrical draw, these little batteries don't do well.

Crappy tire battery.!!!
Another good, viable choice.

I've used both the cheap Wal-Mart batteries and the lightweight Odyessy batteries. The WM batteries work just fine for $30-40 and come with a decent warranty considering the price. The Odyessy also makes a very good summer-only battery. I would imagine a small lawn tractor battery would also work well for the summer months.

I got a kirkland battery from Costco for $30 bucks. About same size, and same weight as stock. Works fine.
