Anybody want to chime in on the lightweight smaller batteries? Are they worth the extra 40 or so bucks? Do they have the same CCA's?

I have a Buddyclub battery in my car and it seems to crank the same as stock. I haven't had any problems with it over the last four months or so. It has just started to get cold here in NY this past month and with temps around 30-40 degrees some nights it has been starting fine. I don't have any extra stereo equipment so I can't comment on that, but i'll keep you guys updated with how it works over the winter.

FYI,

There's only 3 major battery manufacturers. One of them is Johnson Controls, which makes batteries for Costco, Walmart, Sears, Honda, Optima, and many more.

I'm picking up one from Walmart myself.

What about a Spoon battery?
Do they work well on Daily Driven cars?

I think it would make the engine bay alil more sexy.

i'd say Costco. because of their superior return policy. other than that, when spring comes, i'm dropping the smallest lawn mower battery i can into the S.

I used to have a Braille battery in my R32 (VW that is), since the Braille only weighed 11.5 lbs. it shaved of 35 lbs. of weight from in front my front left tire.. made a HUGE difference on that car. Here is a link to a Braille PDF
I had a Braille, too, in my STi. IMO, Spoon, Buddyclub and Braille all have the same characteristics, they are all dry cell IIRC.

Pros: Very good mod if you want to reduce weight, cause that's like 30LBs+ lighter than a stock battery. Car has a little less understeer and better turn in response.

Cons: Shorter life than stock batteries. Car will not start for a period of time (usually more than 2 weeks) Issue with starting up car during winter.

The Optima Yellow is the best choice for me:

1. I don't drive the car very often.

2. I'm installing a powerful audio/video system.
