Best Exhaust...?
At s2kdays I had everyone with a different exhaust rev the car to hear the differences and they were plain. I'm buying the Comptech for certain, it has a metallic resonance the others just don't have, but all else is opinion. The HKS is generally considered "boomy" (figure that one out), I say its deep sounding and loud. The AMUSE is even louder. I was very disappointed in the Mugen, for $1500 bones it better give me more of a difference in sound, it just wasn't there, but it is second lightest next to the AMUSE. The Neuspeed was OK, but had a lot of backfire pause and it looks a little weird from the rear. All these things are personal preference of course, and they do NOT reflect what the driver hears at all, and that can be quite important.

In terms of performance, I would say the Amuse exhaust. It's a single outlet exhaust which benefits the 4 banger like an S2000. It also weighs 8lbs compared to the ~50lbs of the stock exhaust.
Insomniak, HondaGuy, and I went out to a deserted service road tonight. We did about 8 punches from a rolling start.
At top end, HondaGuy (with the Amuse exhaust) just walked us pretty good. I think it sacrificed some low end.
Both Insomniak and I are stock and HondaGuy has a K&N filter (which he lost hp I think) and a Toda flywheel.
I was kinda iffy about the Amuse exhaust, since I'm not a fan of the single outlet on the S2000, but after tonights results, it's got me thinking again. But damn, it cost a bundle...

BTW, I totally dig my Comptech exhaust. Throaty and sporty sound, 3 HP gain, stainless steel, and 3lbs lighter than stock.
I like my HKS alot. Several people I've talked to with other exhausts mentioned they probably would get the HKS if they had to do it over again.
Take CDELENA's advice if you have the chance. Ride in some S2000's with the different exhausts to determine if you're willing to put up with the cabin noise. The HKS is a little boomy with the top up, but the Convertible Inner Cover Liner helps quite a bit. I don't mind the "boomy" noise, but it does help when trying to converse with somebody in the car.
The Comptech, Neuspeed, Nippon, and Mugen sound a lot quieter than the HKS or Amuse. They just give you a lower pitched exhaust that isn't much louder than the stock exhaust. They all sound good, so it's just personal preference.
Of course, I'd still buy the HKS if I had to do again!

I think you forgot to put a "1" in front of the weight loss you mentioned. Comptech told me that their exhaust is 12-13 pounds lighter than stock. I installed the exhaust myself on my car and, although I didn't weigh both, believe it. I think it would be difficult to feel a 3 pound difference when removing and installing but I noticed a huge difference in weight.

I can't speak for the Neuspeed, Nippon, or Mugen exhausts but in addition to sounding much lower pitched, the Comptech exhaust is quite a bit louder than stock. I believe this holds true for the Neuspeed exhuast too. However, the Nippon and Mugen systems aren't supposed to be much different than stock.
