Default best single outlet muffler for s2k

Im converting the stock s2k system to a single outlet. I was wondering what would be the best muffler to replace it with. Ive seen the magnaflow but they look pretty heavy. My main goal was to reduce weight. Im looking for something under 200. any recommendations. Thanks

so you are using the stock piping and you just want to weld a muffler to it on one side? with a budget like the one described you aren't going to do anything useful. you need to explain yourself more, buddy. there are lots of great single outlet replacement exhaust systems that replace your piping with wider, straighter pipes as well as a new muffler. as for weight, almost any aftermarket will weigh less than the stock dual setup. if you want it really light you have to move up to different materials like titanium. check out spugen exhausts they are great and pretty inexpensive. if you want jdm buddy club makes a good single for cheap but its not titanium. try searching more you will find something.

youre going to chop your exhaust in half and add a *tuner* muffler?

theres two things i'd consider before doing this.

first, i wonder about the pipe diameter from the Y joint considering that the tubing was made for a dual set-up. it may be a smaller diameter.
second, the way the pipe mates with the stock muffler would have to be changed in order to make it more angled unless you want your new muffler to sit perpendicular to your bumper. most tuner exhausts are angled.

as for mufflers, you have a plethora of choices from various tuners all the way to eGay. magnaflow is known for their top notch materials within the muffler. i wouldnt worry as much about the weight of the muffler as long as i knew that internals would not blow out or collapse. remember the exhaust collects a good deal of water just from everyday driving.

anyways, what ever route you choose, i'd like to see the finished result. for the headache, i'd just purchase a tuner exhaust system. i created my own single by cutting an invidia exhaust in half and i wasnt happy with it at all. in the long run, i spent more on custom fabricating the piping than the entire price of the exhaust new.

good luck!

well my plan was to mainly lose some weight without losing alot from my pocket. my friend has a car shop which he has welding capability. he said we would do this job for cheap. my plan was to go single and chop off the other side of the y junction. Then replace it with a decent muffler.. I see some hks and apexi universal mufflers on ebay for around 160 to 200 and ive seen some unknown brand names from 10-70 dollars. There are some magnaflow for bout 100 but not sure how good those really are. In total its probably going to cost me around 220 instead of 500-100 which are normally the cost of single exhaust from what ive seen..

keep an eye on the for sale forum and try to pick yourself up one there. it'll do alot better than paying a shop $200 to either install a crap muffler or to hack away at your stock

Go to an exhaust shop and just get a single pipe ran to a muffler of your choice. Dont mod the stock exhaust.

You can get a new spugen single outlet for $420, or at least try to get a used one for a bit less. This way you save money loose weight and at least know you are gaining some HP.
