Default best speaker upgrade

Who believes they have found the best speaker upgrade to work with the factory sound system, money no object............

I know, I know, this has been discussed before. Humour me. Besides, there is new product coming out all the time.

Start by going to Lucid's site (check the sponsor list). His rear speakers are supposed to be da bomb.

I heard that you could get Polk EX-602a speakers for around $100. Haven't tried it, but I will.

Actually, you can get them for $80 from Crutchfield now. Got 'em and like 'em. They are drop-in replacements and don't require any cutting. They sound great and you probably can't beat them for the price.

However, you might want to consider the newer EX-365 because they have a rotatable tweeter which should help in directing the highs out of the footwell area.

I have not yet change out my speakers, but after talking to a guy (has a car called the Reaper) I work with who has won a lot of competitions. I am installing Focal 165K and powered by a Lunar L40X2 Amp. Later if I want to add base I will with Focal's 5 WS subwoofers powered by a second Lunar L40X2 amp.

I know that I will lose some of the highs and lows by not changing out the deck, but now much will be noticeable, very little if any. After all this is a converitable and not the best place to hear music, but who do want you can to get what you can.

I have been to a lot of stores, but they all want to make sales, but this guy at work and other friend who works at a stereo shop in Reno, both think this is the way to go.

Cost for the speakers, amp, installation, sound deading, and what every else, about $1000.00.

What I have learned and my $0.02

I heard that Dyn makes one of the best speakers, but u r going to need a custom install b/c they make 7'' or bigger woofers. The top of the line MB Quarts looks very good. Don't know about the Focals, I've heard some really good setups and some crappy ones. I a lot of ppl. recommended it, but I went with Diamond Audio Hex series.

I just installed Dynaudio's (in the stock locations) a 10" Alumapro
in the passenger footwell, an Alpine 7894 and a Brax 2400 amp.

Dynaudio's are not that common and kind of expensive so most people
have not had a chance to listen to them. I absolutely love the way they sound!!!

Check them out if you have a chance. Or go to a Volvo dealership and check them
out in the C70. There is a stereo package with the full Dynaudio 13 speaker set up.
It's incredible ! ! ! !
